Regulates actin cytoskeletal organization, cell spreading and cell contraction by directly binding and stabilizing filamentous F-actin and prevents its depolymerization . May also serve as a linker protein to recruit proteins required for F-actin formation and turnover . Essential for correct mitotic progression .
