Background

Core subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I) which catalyzes electron transfer from NADH through the respiratory chain, using ubiquinone as an electron acceptor which catalyzes electron transfer from NADH through the respiratory chain, using ubiquinone as an electron acceptor . Essential for the catalytic activity of complex I . Essential for the assembly of complex I . Redox-sensitive, critical component of the oxygen-sensing pathway in the pulmonary vasculature which plays a key role in acute pulmonary oxygen-sensing and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction . Plays an important role in carotid body sensing of hypoxia .

Western blot analysis of NDUFS2 expression in A431 (A), Hela (B), mouse brain (C), rat brain (D) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 52 kD; Observed band size: 45 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of NDUFS2 staining in human hepatocarcinoma formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
