Background

Cellular myosin that appears to play a role in cytokinesis, cell shape, and specialized functions such as secretion and capping. Required for cortical actin clearance prior to oocyte exocytosis . Promotes cell motility in conjunction with S100A4 . During cell spreading, plays an important role in cytoskeleton reorganization, focal contact formation (in the margins but not the central part of spreading cells), and lamellipodial retraction; this function is mechanically antagonized by MYH10 .

Western blot analysis of Myosin 9 expression in Jurkat (A), LO2 (B), mouse lung (C) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 159; 226 kD; Observed band size: 250 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of Myosin 9 staining in human stomach formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
