Background

Scaffold protein which mediates protein-protein interactions during a range of cellular events including focal adhesion assembly, cell adhesion and cell migration . Regulates integrin-mediated signal transduction by contributing to inside-out integrin activation . Recruits PARVA and LIMS1/PITCH to form the heterotrimeric IPP (ILK-PINCH-PARVIN) complex which binds to F-actin via the C-terminal tail of LIMS1 and the N-terminal region of PARVA, promoting F-actin filament bundling, a process required to generate force for actin cytoskeleton reorganization and subsequent dynamic cell adhesion events such as cell spreading and migration .

Western blot analysis of ILK expression in Hela (A), A549 (B), NIH3T3 (C), mouse lung (D) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 36; 44; 51 kD; Observed band size: 51 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of ILK staining in rat kidney formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
