Background

Double-strand break (DSB) repair protein involved in response to DNA damage, telomere dynamics and class-switch recombination (CSR) during antibody genesis repair protein involved in response to DNA damage, telomere dynamics and class-switch recombination (CSR) during antibody genesis . Plays a key role in the repair of double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs) in response to DNA damage by promoting non-homologous end joining (NHEJ)-mediated repair of DSBs and specifically counteracting the function of the homologous recombination (HR) repair protein BRCA1 . In response to DSBs, phosphorylation by ATM promotes interaction with RIF1 and dissociation from NUDT16L1/TIRR, leading to recruitment to DSBs sites .

Western blot analysis of 53BP1 (Phospho-S6) expression in Hela (A), U87MG (B), 3T3L1 (C), H9C2 (D) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 213 kD; Observed band size: 220 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of 53BP1 (Phospho-S6) staining in human heart formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
