Background

The small GTPases Rab are key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking, from the formation of transport vesicles to their fusion with membranes. Rabs cycle between an inactive GDP-bound form and an active GTP-bound form that is able to recruit to membranes different sets of downstream effectors directly responsible for vesicle formation, movement, tethering and fusion . RAB4A is involved in protein transport . Also plays a role in vesicular traffic. Mediates VEGFR2 endosomal trafficking to enhance VEGFR2 signaling . Acts as a regulator of platelet alpha-granule release during activation and aggregation of platelets .

Western blot analysis of Rab 4A expression in Jurkat (A), Hela (B), A549 (C), HEK293 (D), K562 (E), NIH3T3 (F), PC12 (G), COS7 (H) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 24 kD; Observed band size: 26 kD kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of Rab 4A staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
