Background
Plasma phosphorylated tau 181 (p-tau181) has emerged as a promising biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related conditions. Studies show that elevated plasma p-tau181 levels are associated with increased amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposits across various brain regions in cognitively healthy adults. Furthermore, p-tau181 levels correlate with Aβ-positivity on positron emission tomography (PET), and they predict the conversion to dementia stage depending on tau-PET burden. However, p-tau181 does not appear to be directly linked to renal function. Additionally, plasma p-tau181 levels have been associated with cognitive decline in various populations, such as those with AD, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and other neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, p-tau181 levels have been identified as a noninvasive diagnostic and prognostic tool in clinical practice and trials.

Sandwich ELISA analysis of pTau181 by ARA6887 & mouse anti-human MAPT monoclonal antibody. Microtiter wells were coated with ARA6887 as the capture antibody. Phosphorylated MAPT was used as the antigen. Peroxidase conjugated mouse anti-human MAPT monoclonal antibody was used as the detection antibody. Result: ARA6887 and mouse anti-human MAPT monoclonal antibody can be used as a matched antibody pair to detect and quantify the concentration of pTau181.
