Background

Catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), a serine/threonine phosphatase involved in the regulation of a wide variety of enzymes, signal transduction pathways, and cellular events , a serine/threonine phosphatase involved in the regulation of a wide variety of enzymes, signal transduction pathways, and cellular events . PP2A is the major phosphatase for microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) . PP2A can modulate the activity of phosphorylase B kinase casein kinase 2, mitogen-stimulated S6 kinase, and MAP-2 kinase . Cooperates with SGO2 to protect centromeric cohesin from separase-mediated cleavage in oocytes specifically during meiosis I . Can dephosphorylate various proteins, such as SV40 large T antigen, AXIN1, p53/TP53, PIM3, WEE1 .

Western blot analysis of PP2A-alpha/beta expression in HEK293T (A), A549 (B), K562 (C) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 35; 29 kD; Observed band size: 35 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of PP2A-alpha/beta staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. Tyramide-AREX® Fluor 488 (green) was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with DAPI (blue).
