Background

Contributes to the maintenance of intracerebral BDNF levels within the normal range, which is necessary for the preservation of spatial learning and the resistance to neuronal cell death caused by ischemic stress . May enhance growth factor-induced ERK1 and ERK2 phosphorylation, including that induced by PDGF and FGF. May attenuate NGF-promoted ELK1 phosphorylation in a microtubule-dependent manner.

Western blot analysis of NDRG4 expression in Jurkat (A), HepG2 (B) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 38 kD; Observed band size: 38 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of NDRG4 staining in human liver formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. AEC was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
