Background

Together with the alpha chain CGA constitutes follitropin, the follicle-stimulating hormone, and provides its biological specificity to the hormone heterodimer. Binds FSHR, a G protein-coupled receptor, on target cells to activate downstream signaling pathways . Follitropin is involved in follicle development and spermatogenesis in reproductive organs .

Western blot analysis of FSH beta expression in HEK293T (A), Hela (B), A375 (C), mouse kidney (D), mouse spleen (E), rat kidney (F), rat spleen (G) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 14 kD; Observed band size: 19 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of FSH beta staining in human brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
