Background

Receptor for Wnt proteins . Functions in the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. In vitro activates WNT2, WNT10B, WNT5A, but not WNT2B or WNT4 signaling . In neurons, activation by WNT7A promotes formation of synapses . May be involved in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and/or in differentiated tissues (Probable). Plays a role in yolk sac angiogenesis and in placental vascularization . Plays a role in ocular development .

Western blot analysis of Frizzled 5 expression in SGC7901 (A), PC3 (B), MEF (C) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 64; 73 kD; Observed band size: 65 kD)

Immunofluorescent analysis of Frizzled 5 staining in A549 cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a hidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a Alexa Fluor 594-conjugated secondary antibody (red) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.

Storage

Store at 4°C short term. For long term storage, store at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
