Associates with the EF-Tu.GDP complex and induces the exchange of GDP to GTP. It remains bound to the aminoacyl-tRNA.EF-Tu.GTP complex up to the GTP hydrolysis stage on the ribosome. Participates in mitochondrial translation .

Western blot analysis of EF-Ts expression in HeLa (A), Jurkat (B), mouse heart (C), rat liver (D) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 18; 23; 35; 37 kD; Observed band size: 35 kD)

Immunofluorescent analysis of EF-Ts staining in U2OS cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a hidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a Alexa Fluor 594-conjugated secondary antibody (red) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.

Storage

Store at 4°C short term. For long term storage, store at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
