Background

Involved in the initial and rate-limiting step of peroxisomal beta-oxidation of straight-chain saturated and unsaturated very-long-chain fatty acids . Catalyzes the desaturation of fatty acyl-CoAs that have a saturated bond between C2 and C3 (2,3-saturated acyl-CoA) to 2-trans-enoyl-CoAs ((2E)-enoyl-CoAs), and donates electrons directly to molecular oxygen (O(2)), thereby producing hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) .

Western blot analysis of ACOX1 expression in Raw264.7 (A), mouse liver (B) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 75 kD; Observed band size: 74,48 kD)

Immunofluorescent analysis of ACOX1 staining in HeLa cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a hidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a AREX® Fluor 488 -conjugated secondary antibody (green) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.

Storage

Store at 4°C short term. For long term storage, store at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
