Background

Plays a role in sorting of endocytic ubiquitinated cargos into multivesicular bodies (MVBs) via its interaction with the ESCRT-I complex (endosomal sorting complex required for transport I), and possibly also other ESCRT complexes via its interaction with the ESCRT-I complex (endosomal sorting complex required for transport I), and possibly also other ESCRT complexes . May act as a negative regulator of Ras-mediated mitogenic activity . Plays a role in ciliogenesis .

Western blot analysis of PTPN23 expression in mouse eye (A), rat kidney (B) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 178 kD; Observed band size: 179 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of PTPN23 staining in rat brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
