Background

Could play a role in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, both in intracellular lysosomal metabolism and extracellular cell-cell and cell-pathogen interactions. Binds to tissue- and organ-specific lectins or selectins, allowing homing of macrophage subsets to particular sites. Rapid recirculation of CD68 from endosomes and lysosomes to the plasma membrane may allow macrophages to crawl over selectin-bearing substrates or other cells.

Data

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of human spleen tissue labelling CD68 with ARA769 at 1:200. Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed using Tris/EDTA buffer pH 9.0.

Overlay histogram showing THP-1 cells stained with ARA769 (Red). The cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 10 min. The cells were then incubated in the antibody (ARA769, 1:100 dilution) in 1x PBS/1% BSA for 30 min at room temperature. The secondary antibody used was a Goat Anti-Rabbit Alexa Fluor<sup>®</sup> 488 (IgG H+L) at 1:2,000 dilution for 20 min at room temperature. Unlabelled sample (Black) was used as a control.
