Background

Binds to actin filaments in muscle and non-muscle cells . Plays a central role, in association with the troponin complex, in the calcium dependent regulation of vertebrate striated muscle contraction . Smooth muscle contraction is regulated by interaction with caldesmon. In non-muscle cells is implicated in stabilizing cytoskeleton actin filaments.

Western blot analysis of Tropomyosin expression in SW480 (A), MCF7 (B), mouse heart (C), mouse brain (D) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 26; 28; 32 kD; Observed band size: 36 kD)

Immunofluorescent analysis of Tropomyosin staining in Hela cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a humidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a DyLight 594-conjugated secondary antibody (red) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.

Storage

Store at 4°C short term. For long term storage, store at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
