Background

Membrane-bound E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that mediates ubiquitination of target proteins . May function together with E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes UBE2D1/UBCH5A and UBE2D2/UBC4 . Mediates ubiquitination of PXN/paxillin,thereby regulating cell motility and localization of PXN/paxillin . Catalyzes ubiquitination of Salmonella type III secreted protein sopA . Mediates the 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination of JKAMP thereby regulating JKAMP function by decreasing its association with components of the proteasome and ERAD; the ubiquitination appears to involve E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme UBE2N .

Western blot analysis of RNF5 expression in MCF7 (A), Jurkat (B), mouse liver (C), mouse kidney (D), rat brain (E) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 19 kD; Observed band size: 21 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of RNF5 staining in rat liver formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
