Involved in tetrahydrobiopterin biosynthesis . Seems to both prevent the formation of 7-pterins and accelerate the formation of quinonoid-BH2. Coactivator for HNF1A-dependent transcription . Regulates the dimerization of homeodomain protein HNF1A and enhances its transcriptional activity . Also acts as a coactivator for HNF1B-dependent transcription .

Western blot analysis of PCBD1 expression in HEK293T (A), A549 (B), PC3 (C), mouse liver (D), mouse kidney (E), rat kidney (F) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 12 kD; Observed band size: 12 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of PCBD1 staining in human stomach formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
