Background

Negatively regulates cilia formation by recruiting the CP110-CEP97 complex (a negative regulator of ciliogenesis) at the distal end of the mother centriole in ciliary cells at the distal end of the mother centriole in ciliary cells . At the beginning of cilia formation, MPHOSPH9 undergoes TTBK2-mediated phosphorylation and degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome system and removes itself and the CP110-CEP97 complex from the distal end of the mother centriole, which subsequently promotes cilia formation .

Western blot analysis of MPP9 expression in HeLa (A), NIH3T3 (B), PC12 (C) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 116 kD; Observed band size: 78 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of MPP9 staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
