Background

Is a regulator of actin polymerization, required for proper myofibril organization and regulation of the length of sarcomeric thin filaments . It also plays a role in the assembly of cardiomyocyte cell adhesion complexes . Regulates cytoskeletal rearrangements involved in cytokinesis and cell migration, by inhibiting Rac1-dependent paxillin phosphorylation . May play a role as coactivator in transcriptional activation by hormone-activated nuclear receptors (NR) and acts in cooperation with NCOA2 and CARM1 and acts in cooperation with NCOA2 and CARM1 . Involved in estrogen hormone signaling.

Western blot analysis of Flightless-1 expression in HeLa (A), Jurkat (B) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 138; 143; 144 kD; Observed band size: 160 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of Flightless-1 staining in human colon cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
