Background

Exosomes are small vesicles (30–150 nm) secreted by cells that contain RNA and proteins. They are abundantly present in various body fluids such as blood, saliva, urine, and milk. Exosomes are believed to function as intercellular messengers, transferring their effector molecules or signaling molecules between specific cells; however, their exact structure, effector composition, and the biological pathways they participate in remain unclear.

Studies on the biological functions of exosomes require the isolation of intact exosome particles. Traditional ultracentrifugation methods are cumbersome, require specialized equipment, and are difficult to perform.
