Background

Precursor of the transcription factor form (Processed cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 beta), which is embedded in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane , which is embedded in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane . Endoplasmic reticulum stress promotes processing of this form, releasing the transcription factor form that translocates into the nucleus, where it activates transcription of genes involved in the unfolded protein response (UPR) .

Western blot analysis of ATF6B expression in mouse embryo (A), C6 (B), CT26 (C), DLD (D), A2780 (E) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 76 kD; Observed band size: 95 kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of ATF6B staining in human liver cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
