Background

Responsible for the thiolytic cleavage of straight chain 3-keto fatty acyl-CoAs (3-oxoacyl-CoAs) . Plays an important role in fatty acid peroxisomal beta-oxidation . Catalyzes the cleavage of short, medium, long, and very long straight chain 3-oxoacyl-CoAs .

Western blot analysis of ACAA1 expression in mouse liver (A), mouse kidney (B) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 44 kD; Observed band size: 43 kD kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of ACAA1 staining in human ovarian cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
