Product Details
Background
Serum‑free medium for exosomes (phenol red‑free) is a medium specifically designed for exosome‑related applications. The product contains HEPES, L‑Glutamine, Pharm Grade Albumin, Hypoxanthine, Thymidine, and Glucose. It is Xeno‑free and Serum‑free, and does not contain growth factors. It can be used as a complete medium without the addition of serum during cell culture, which is conducive to exosome harvesting. Phenol red is commonly used in culture media as a pH indicator to continuously monitor the acidity/alkalinity of the culture solution. However, phenol red also has certain drawbacks. Studies have shown that phenol red can mimic the effects of steroid hormones (especially estrogen), so it is recommended to use phenol red‑free medium when working with estrogen‑sensitive cells (e.g., mammary tissue). In addition, under certain conditions, phenol red may interfere with sodium‑potassium balance and with flow cytometry analysis in cell labeling experiments. This medium does not contain phenol red and is free from the above‑mentioned effects. Applicable cells: Suitable for both tumor cells and T cells.
