Antecedentes

Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins.; Activin B is a dimer of alpha and beta-B that plays a role in several essential biological processes including embryonic development, stem cell maintenance and differentiation, haematopoiesis, cell proliferation and wound healing .

Western blot analysis of Inhibin beta B expression in Hela (A), mouse testis (B), rat testis (C) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 45 kD; Observed band size: 52 kD)

Immunofluorescent analysis of Inhibin beta B staining in LO2 cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a hidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a AREX® Fluor 488 -conjugated secondary antibody (green) in PBS at room temperature in the dark. Phalloidin - AREX® Fluor 594 was used to stain Actin filaments (red). DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue).
