Background

Component of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC). Involved in the presentation of peptide antigens to the immune system. Exogenously applied M.tuberculosis EsxA or EsxA-EsxB (or EsxA expressed in host) binds B2M and decreases its export to the cell surface (total protein levels do not change), probably leading to defects in class I antigen presentation . Western blot analysis of Beta 2 Microglobulin expression in Hela (A), HEK293 (B), HepG2 (C), Raji (D), A431 (E), Jurkat (F) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 14 kD; Observed band size: 14 kD kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of Beta 2 Microglobulin staining in human ovarian cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
