Involved in osteopontin/bone sialoprotein dephosphorylation. Its expression seems to increase in certain pathological states such as Gaucher and Hodgkin diseases, the hairy cell, the B-cell, and the T-cell leukemias.

Western blot analysis of ACP5 expression in A431 (A), T47D (B), HepG2 (C), MOLT4 (D), Jurkat (E), Hela (F) whole cell lysates. (Predicted band size: 37 kD; Observed band size: 40 kD kD)

Immunohistochemical analysis of ACP5 staining in human liver cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
